His Excellency, the Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, has bid farewell to the first batch of pilgrims from Katsina State for the 2024 Hajj. The farewell ceremony and the issuance of passports to the pilgrims took place at the premises of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board on June 4, 2024.

In his speech, the Governor called on the pilgrims to be God-fearing during their pilgrimage. He stated that the government has taken measures to ease the Hajj process for the pilgrims, including the payment of 720 Riyals for each pilgrim to cover sacrificial expenses.

The Governor revealed that his administration has allocated at least 398 million Naira as Hajj allowances for the pilgrims, recognizing the challenges posed by the rising dollar exchange rate. He further mentioned that special personnel have been appointed to assist with the transportation and welfare of the pilgrims from departure to return, ensuring efficient Hajj operations.

Finally, he urged the pilgrims to be patient and disciplined while in the holy land and to adhere to Saudi Arabian laws to avoid any legal issues. He also requested the pilgrims to pray for Katsina State, particularly regarding the security challenges facing the state and Nigeria as a whole.
